What is the MAGical Meadows Project?

MAGical Meadows is a Durham Wildlife Trust project undertaken on behalf of the Durham Biodiversity Partnership. The aim of the project is to conserve, connect and create magnesian limestone grassland in South Tyneside, Sunderland, Durham, Easington and Sedgefield. Together these areas form part of the Durham Magnesian Limestone Natural Area (DMLNA).

MAGical Meadows is a partnership of the following organisations: Defra, Durham City Council, Durham County Council, Durham Heritage Coast, Durham Wildlife Trust, Easington District Council, English Nature, Sedgefield Borough Council, South Tyneside Council, Sunderland City Council, The National Trust and Tyne Tees Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group.

The MAGical Meadows project has received support from the ALSF Partnership Grants Scheme through Defra's Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund (ALSF) until March 2007. MAGical Meadows through its partners is delivering a wide range of revenue and capital projects.
